Reality Versus Illusion – Paranormal Magician Joe Diamond on The Empowerment Show

Image
You may be asking yourself, “What is a magician doing on The Empowerment Show?” The answer is that Joe Diamond’s magic empowers us to open our minds, awareness, and sixth sense. Joe’s brand of magic blends technique with showmanship, but his special ingredient is a touch of intuition. During performances he reads minds, pulls intimate details about a person just by holding one of their items, and uses audience members to guide him using only his sixth sense. And he has done amazing things. While blindfolded he has completed a corn maze, found a coin in a movie, and found a coin in a cemetery where he then proceeded to “read” the gravestone.  He likes to call his brand of magic “paranormal” because it is outside the normal, but it is not supernatural or extra-natural. What Joe does is use genuine intuition to tune into his audience so he can gather information from them. He is quick to say that he does not talk to the dead or commune w...

At One

There have been many times in my life, and still some today, when I fight reality.  I want a different outcome.  I desire for things to be different than they are.  I pray for divine intervention to change the facts.  What usually occurs are that the facts remain and all I have done is to create pain and disappointment for myself.  It is said that what we resist, persists. What if instead of resisting, we accepted? Recently I was introduced to the Navajo word “Hozho.”  It is the most important word in the Navajo language.  Roughly translated it means peace, balance, beauty, and harmony.  When you are one with and part of the world around you, it is said you are “in Hozho.”  Here is how it shows up. Say there is a drought. Many of the modern religions would say to pray for rain.  Instead, the Navajo hold a ceremony to help them be at peace with the drought, to be in harmony with the drought. Said another way,...

Blow Your Resolutions Already?

Image
This is the time of the year when we historically look to make resolutions.  “This year I am going to [fill in the blank with stop smoking, lose weight, leave my job, etc.].”  The resolutions are usually built around disappointment with ourselves (I’m fat) or are a punishment (I love to smoke, but it is bad for me so I have to stop).  We tackle our resolutions with a vengeance.  We beat ourselves into submission.  We guilt ourselves into making changes.  We berate our current state and then set lofty unreachable ideals.  And, usually in a few days, weeks, or if we are a rare bird, months, we drop our resolutions.  Instead, what if this year you set intentions? Intentions are a powerful tool.  They are based in desire, wishes, and joy instead of resolutions’ “shoulds,” “have tos,” and deprivation.  Intentions are what you want to gift yourself.  So instead of a resolution to ...

Their illness could have come from an injury or it is chronic.  Many turn to medication which can help suppress the vestibular system and therefore the pain, but the medication can also cause grogginess. Empowering Those with Disabilities – Debra Ruh

Image
Debra knew that her daughter Sara was bound for great things.  But no one else seemed to agree.  Not the doctors who said she would never speak or walk.  Not her teachers who thought her best hope was becoming a bagger at a supermarket.  Debra and Sara knew differently and now Sara in her 20’s hs been named one of the Top 40 Under 40 in Richmond Virginia and has spoken to groups around the world.  Sara also has Down syndrome. Sara and her story have affected those near and far to her changing the course of their lives.  One person thus affected is her mother Debra who wrote in The Mobility Resource ,  “I believe that God does not make mistakes when a child with Down syndrome is born.  Instead many people with Down syndrome are great teachers – if we stop and listen to their wisdom.  Disabilities are part of life.  We need to embrace the lessons that we are taught by our abilities and disabilities.”...
