On the last episode of Exploring the Eighth House , a very important topic was touched upon. When we lose something or someone very important to us, a loved one or a dream, the response is always grief. Everyone of us has experienced grief in one way or another, and we all grieve in our own ways. That will be today’s topic. Grief. Dealing with death is dificult, and it is very hard when parents pass on, even though this is what is expected to happen one day. However, when a child passes on, the grief experienced by the parents is undescribable. I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Ivy Margulies, who is a funeral director and a certified death midwife, as known as a bereavement doula on Exploring the Eight House . In addition to her private practice, Dr. Ivy Margulies has founded Angels Born Still, specifically focused reproductive maternal mental health. She specializes in infertility and all types of of pregnancy loss including selective termination, abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death. In her professional work, Dr. Harris focuses on health and wellness and has a particular interest in providing therapy, consultation, and training in the area of grief and loss. It is time that these uncomfortable parts of life are brought out. I am organizing a new podcast called Exploring the Eighth House and there will be no set time as far as when it airs. The Eighth House in astrology is the area in your astrological chart that is ruled by the sign Scorpio, and is the area that governs these uncomfortable facts of life. In fact, this house is known to be the “house of sex”, but sex is only a part of what it represents. Psychology, death, other people’s stuff, debt, investments and secrets are what this house also rules. I have written many blog posts on depression and mental health. I am going to move away from that in this post and focus on another aspect of life that many of us shun, which is death. Many of us have a difficult time accepting death, however, it does not have to be difficult. The acceptance of death is easier than you may think. After all, who doesn’t realize they are eventually going to die? The problem lies in fully accepting death and in being comfortable in talking about dying with those we love. When you are approaching the sensitive issues surrounding death with family members and loved ones can be a loving way to help everyone prepare for the eventual death of a loved one. Most of the time, families may have a hard time accepting death. They tend to avoid discussing medical problems and chronic illnesses until they are forced, by circumstances, to face up to it. I have been on hiatus for a while. I needed time to collect my thoughts and change around my site. I lost traffic and interest over the past month but that is okay. I needed that time to evaluate things and now that I have done that, I know what to do. I stopped doing my podcasts. I felt there was no more room in my life for them. It served its purpose at the time. Not anymore. I will write the occasional post on social media. However, I will mostly be writing posts about depression, mental health, grief and death, and anything else that I decide to write about. Is that depressing? No because it is reality of life. It is time to stop hiding from all of that. I felt that only focusing on writing posts that are business and social media related wasn’t allowing me to really express who I am.
